The Public Safety Diver Surface Support Specialists play a vital role on a Public Safety Dive Team. The divers’ wellbeing, the team’s effectiveness and the mission’s success all hinges on their ability to do their job. With this in mind, it is imperative that the PSD Surface Support Specialists obtain a solid foundation in Public Safety Diving.
This course is designed to be taught in conjunction with the PADI Public Safety Diver course or separately if necessary.
It covers:
- Search and recovery dive planning, organization, procedures, techniques and how to deal with potential problems
- How to interview witnesses
- How to document the dive operation
- And most importantly how to keep your entire dive team safe
To enroll in the PADI PSD Surface Support Specialist course, you must be 18 years or older, an Emergency First Responder or have the equivalent certification from another agency. Divers and non-divers can take this course.
